The Philosophical Logic of Chinese Cultural Subjectivity
(Abstract)
Zou Guangwen
The concept of subjectivity is a philosophical issue that emerges alongside human modernization. At its core, modernization is a process of modernizing human beings as cultural entities, which gives subjectivity a cultural dimension. Cultural subjectivity serves as the cornerstone of a nation’s cultural life, preserving and carrying forward a legacy that links the past, present, and future. China’s contemporary modernization practices have fostered the emergence of Chinese cultural subjectivity, while the Chinese path to modernization has provided a fundamental basis for its formation. In turn, Chinese cultural subjectivity serves as the cultural backbone of this modernization process. By integrating the essence of fine traditional Chinese culture as its “roots” and the fundamental principles of Marxism as its “soul,” Chinese cultural subjectivity continues to be strengthened. This, in turn, offers value-driven guidance for achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and cultivating a strong socialist culture in China.
