The Practical Dialectics of Chinese Theory
(Abstract)
Xin Ming
Chinese theory refers specifically to the crystallized thought and theoretical achievements developed by the Communist Party of China in the course of leading the Chinese nation toward great rejuvenation. It is epitomized by Marxism adapted to the Chinese context and the needs of the times. Chinese theory realizes the dialectical unity of “interpreting” and “adapting,” grounding the effort to build a new world in profound understanding, observance, and application of historical laws, thereby demonstrating the advanced nature of scientific theory. It also adheres to the dialectical unity of “borrowing” and “indigenization,” consciously fostering the growth of humanity’s intellectual heritage within the soil of Chinese civilization through a high degree of theoretical subjectivity. It is committed to the dialectical unity of “particularity” and “universality,” offering answers to global questions from the standpoint of China’s realities and responding to shared concerns through Chinese practice—establishing the universal value and world-historical significance of its theory through distinctive features. Furthermore, it upholds the dialectical unity of “upholding fundamental principles” and “breaking new ground,” opening an appropriate path for theoretical development by staying firmly rooted in Marxist positions, viewpoints, and methodologies while emancipating the mind and keeping pace with the times to produce ongoing theoretical innovations. Chinese theory elevates the idea of “China in theory” to the commanding heights of truth and morality, demonstrating immense spiritual power.
