Maritime History: A Core Discipline of Global Historical Research
(Abstract)

The work of the interdisciplinary team, the History of Marine Animal Populations (HMAP), shows that maritime history is an interdisciplinary discipline. The establishment of the International Maritime History Association (IMHA), has boosted the discipline of maritime history. Maritime historians should actively promote the development of this discipline through interdisciplinary research.
