The Study of the Non-Alignment Movement in International Academia
(Abstract)
Lu Hongmou and Gao Tianhui
The study of Non-Aligned Movement begun as a result of the observation of “neutralist nations” in the early Cold War days. After more than 60 years’ efforts, research on “the development of Non-Aligned Movement” and “the relationship between United States or Soviet Union and Non-Aligned Movement” has been prolific. Meanwhile, further systematic and comprehensive study will be needed on “Non-Aligned Movement’s political and economic demands and activities” and “important non-aligned nations.” Influenced by the development of Non-Aligned Movement and the trend of the Cold War history research, the study of Non-Aligned Movement has roughly experienced three peaks, and become more and more international. Nevertheless, notable differences persist between Western and non-Western scholars in terms of thematic focus and research priorities.
