The Emergence Logic and Innovative Value of “Building Cultural Confidence and Strength”

“Building cultural confidence and strength and securing new successes in developing socialist culture” represents the CPC strategic vision for cultural development at a new starting point, and is a key component of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture. Its emergence underscores the vital role of cultural development in Chinese modernization and in shaping a new form of human civilization. It plays a practical role in strengthening cultural subjectivity, advancing the construction of a culturally strong country, and renewing the civilizational form. As a product of theoretical innovation in socialist culture with Chinese characteristics, this concept is grounded in the dynamic interaction between “confidence” and “strength.” By promoting “cultural confidence and strength,” it reveals the spiritual ethos and cultural character of the Chinese nation at this new juncture; through the cultural practices of Chinese modernization, it broadens the cultural path to modernization for other nations; and through the pursuit of “new successes in developing socialist culture,” it sets cultural goals for the renewal and modernization of Chinese civilization at both national and global levels.
