The Future of Education and Ecological Civilization: The Philosopher’s Responsibility concerning Education in the Epoch of AI

Eco-civilization is a new type of civilization. It will not be anthropocentric, not even bio-centric, but it should be cosmo-centric. Process philosophy holds that the basic units of which the universe is composed are “actual entities.” Fundamentally speaking they are “energy” and they constitute everything in the world. Accordingly the universe is no more than a “society” composed of countless organisms. In the view of process philosophy there is no clear-cut boundary between “organic” and “inorganic.” That is why process philosophy is most proper to be used to explain and even to elaborate eco-civilization. The appearance of AI causes revolutionary changes in the fields of “teaching” and “l(fā)earning.” It also brings with it some difficulties. Owing to its two major ideas, the idea of process and the idea of organism, process philosophy can be particularly helpful in solving these difficulties.
